Subbuteo football sets have been keenly collected by boys (and increasingly, girls) young and old for many years. And Subbuteo football accessories are highly collectable as bigger boys look to acquire the parts they either once had, or could never afford when they were young. As with all areas of collecting, the most sought after Subbuteo football accessories are those complete and boxed, and even better, mint and unopened. Subbuteo didn't just make football sets, they also made cricket and other sport games. They were also sold in the distinctive Subbuteo boxes and any boy over the age of 40 will almost certainly remember the magic of Subbuteo football sets and toy soldiers.
As with train sets, the beauty of subbuteo is that you can create your own dream stadium and then play out any game of your dreams. You can find a dedicated subbuteo football team for almost any major club and the fact that the club sets show the old kits through the years just makes them even more desirable. Plus of course, the fact that it is very easy to break subbuteo players means that perfect original old football teams in their boxes sell for high prices. Subbuteo sets were sold in various "edition" box sets, with the Club Edition being the basic set through to all sorts of fantastic World Cup editions and other which included more accessories like floodlights (that actually worked) and stands and other bit and pieces.
