Atari is a name that will be forever etched in the memories of any child who was between the ages of 7 and 20 back in 1978 when the Atari VCS or Atari 2600 as it was also known became the must have home video game sensation. Atari was also huge in the computing world, the Atari 400 and 800 computers were powerful machines in their time and the Atari ST went on to become one of the best selling computers of the 1990s. Atari's main strenghs were in gaming though and from their early arcade machines like Asteroids, Centipede and Tempest, Atari became a massive household name.
